IVF Support
I believe in taking time to prepare for treatment, with care for both your physical and emotional wellbeing.
Some women and couples come to see me while planning their first cycle. Others get in touch during treatment or after a previous experience. My work in women’s health and fertility includes an understanding of assisted reproductive techniques (ART) such as IVF, IUI and ovulation induction, and how acupuncture appointments can be planned alongside them.
At Yin Earth Medicine, I offer acupuncture and Chinese medicine consultations alongside the care provided by your fertility specialist and clinic.
Support through your treatment journey
Before our first appointment, I will ask you to complete a detailed intake form. This gives me time to review your health history and understand where you are in your treatment journey. Your first appointment includes a consultation and acupuncture treatment.
We can discuss your fertility history and your clinic’s treatment plan. I also consider what is happening in your life more broadly, including your physical and emotional experience during treatment. You are welcome to bring information from your fertility specialist so we can plan appointments around your clinic’s schedule.
Acupuncture during IVF
If you come to see me before starting IVF, we can discuss how acupuncture appointments might fit into your preparation. If your cycle is already underway, you are still welcome to book. We can plan appointments around your clinic’s schedule and review the plan as treatment progresses.
Depending on your circumstances, appointments may be arranged:
- During preparation for an IVF cycle
- During ovarian stimulation
- Around the time of egg collection
- Before or after embryo transfer, if the timing is practical for you
- During the two-week wait, between embryo transfer and your blood test
If you are having IUI or ovulation induction, we can discuss the timing of appointments in relation to your treatment plan.
We will discuss a treatment plan based on your circumstances and review it together as we go. I may also recommend Chinese herbal medicine or supplements, offer dietary and lifestyle advice, or suggest discussing further blood tests or an ultrasound with your GP or fertility specialist.
Each appointment gives us time to discuss any changes to your treatment schedule and how you are feeling along the way.
